THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Dec. 17, 1778 A full page is taken up with: "Parliamentary Proceedings" which includes various discussions on the Revolutionary War. Some bits include: "...that in the late attack on Rhode Island, General Pigot had been forced to slacken his fire for want of powder, not having in the garrison more than eight days ammunition..." and "...Sir William Howe said that a siege had not been expected or foreseen; & that for an extraordinary emergency he thought the garrison pretty well supplied..." and "...Mr. Townshend broke in upon the subject the propriety or impropriety of continuing the American war which had been so fully discussed the night before...' and much more. (see for portions).
The back page has a letter from America to a friend in England, which begins: "Various are the opinions in this country respecting the manner in which Lord Howe will be received at home..." (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 inches, very nice, clean condition.
