WEEKLY STANDARD, Raleigh, North Carolina, Oct. 21, 1863
* Rare Confederate title
* The Right of Secession
Certainly one of the less common titles we've brought into inventory from the Confederacy. Among the front page items are: "The Latest News", "Capt. Davis Withdrawn", "Discussion at Smithfield" and some smaller items.
The inside pages begin with an editorial headed: "The Right of Secession" which is very lengthy. Also: "Hon. John A. Gilmer" "The Latest News", "From Chattanooga" and various political reports as well as smaller items concerning the Civil War. The back page has another editorial type letter headed: "The Right of Secession", "Gen. Polk's Arrest", "the Military & the Civil Authorities", "Aerial Navigation" and a few smaller items.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, several folds, some light damp staining, wear at folds, and some small worm holes.
