July 24, 1779

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, July 24, 1779

* Revolutionary War Era
* 18th century
* From The Enemy

Nearly two-thirds of the front page is taken up with: "A View of the Evidence Relative to the conduct of the American War under Sir William Howe, Lord Viscount Howe, and General Burgoyne..." which gives an overview under the subheads: "Campaign 1776" and "Campaign 1777" (see). Great to have this content take up so much of the front page.
The back page has reports headed: "America" including a letter from Fort Augusta which mentions an Indian attack, with details (see). Also a letter from New York which notes: "Our force here, and on Long and Staten Islands, if the regiments were complete would exceed 20,000 men...We have made a movement up the North River & if we are resolved to take post on it we may draw five regiments from Rhode Island...The people have been so harassed & plundered by the Congress that the whole country is almost unanimous for a submission...There is a general want of provisions and cloathing in the Northern Colonies..." and more (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 inches, very nice, clean condition.
