THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, February 3, 1778

* Revolutionary War Era
* 18th century
* From The Enemy

Most of a full page inside is taken up with: "Thoughts on the Present State of Affairs with American and the Means of Conciliation" which begins: "An obstacle may arise to a conciliation with America from the ambition of individuals..." and continues with: "America must know, that notwithstanding our had successes hitherto, we are still able to distress them much, if not to conquer them..." with more. The photos show only portions of this report.
Another page has reports from the House of Lords and contains a portion reading: "...we betrayed indisputable marks of weakness & timidity. It was synonymous with saying we resign our pretensions to America; we cannot subdue them; let them be independent; this was the language of this proposal...and America must be lost from the success of such a motion as the present; because it  intimated an express declaration that we cannot subdue them, that they may, if they chose, enjoy the favourable supremacy they have long panted for."
Eight pages, very nice condition, 8 1/4 by 11 1/4 inches.
