DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, April 16, 1862

* Report on the Battle of Shiloh from the Confederate capital

A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. The entire front page is taken up with various advertisements and notices. Page 2 has war items including a lengthy editorial which begins: "The states of Kentucky & Maryland are now to determine what they will do in the matter of selling their slaves to the Federal Government at its own price & upon its own terms, in obedience to the abolition demand for emancipation..." with much more (see for portion). also on pg. 2: "Movements & Spirit of the War" "A Yankee's Review & Prediction of the Rebellion" "The Capture of Savannah, Georgia" "Medals for the Yankee Soldiers" "the Official Papers of the Committee on Fort Donelson..." and more.
Page 3 continues with war news including: "From Corinth" "The Conscription Bill" "News of the Corinth Battle in Washington" "The Enemy's Gunboat Expedition up the Rappahannock" "The Battle of Shiloh--General Buell Mortally Wounded" and more. The back page is mostly taken up with various Acts from the Confederate government.
Complete as a 4 page issue, never bound nor trimmed, a few minor margin tears, generally in very nice, clean condition.
