Item # 643318

October 5, 1919

DETROIT FREE PRESS, Oct. 5, 1919

* Chicago White Sox World Series (game 4)
* Cincinnati Reds - MLB
* Black Sox Scandal in process

The top of the front page has 2 column heads in the infamous 1919 "Black Sox" World Series, this being game #4. "RING BLANKS SOX AND REDS AGAIN DEFEAT CICOTTE" with column heads: "Chicago Pitcher Lets In First Run by Own Errors" "Neale's Double Scores Other" "Home Club Is Held to Three Hits Before Vast Throng".
But even better heads top the sports page with banner headlines:
"Ring Blanks Sox, Holding Them to 3 Hits, and Reds Again Beat Cicotte" and also: "Deleray Henchman Lets Cincinnati Score First Run On Own Errors, But Neale Drives in the Other" with various subheads. Plus this page features a very large photo of the game, plus the full box score, etc.
The complete Sunday issue with about 50 pages, just slightly irregular at the spine from disbinding, very nice condition.
