* Transatlantic telegraph cable completion
Nearly half of the first column has reports concerning the successful completion of the Atlantic Cable, the telegraph cable stretched across the ocean which connected Europe with the United States. Heads include: "THE ATLANTIC CABLE" "Successful Completion of the Great Work" "The Old and New Worlds Joined Together" "Perfect Working Throughout The Line" "London Dispatches of Friday Received" "History of the Voyage Across the Ocean" and more (see). An attempt the previous year was unsuccessful as the cable broke.
Eight pages, very nice condition.
