November 13, 1662

MERCURIUS PUBLICUS, London, England, Nov. 13, 1662

* Early newsbook, mid-17th century
* Before the era of newspapers

The longer titles also includes: "Comprising The Sum of all Affairs Now in Agitation in England, Scotland, and Ireland, Together with Forraign Intelligence for Information of the People, and to Prevent False News." Here is an uncommon title in newsbook format (the forerunner of newspapers).
The issue is almost entirely taken up with news from "Westminster" with reports relating to the King. One interesting note: "...minding them from His Majesty to provide against that excessive drinking in counties and burroughs before they choose their knights and burgesses...".
This is a defective issue, lacking the back half so present are 8 of the 16 pages. This issue was never bound nor trimmed so the margins are quite wide and the issue folds out to one large sheet. Some damp staining to the bottom portion and a bit irregular at the bottom margin, light dirtiness. Measures 7 by 9 inches. Priced dramatically less being a defective issue.
