July 07, 1863

UTICA MORNING HERALD, New York, July 7, 1863

* Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
* Most historic battle of the Civil War

Fully half of the front page is taken up with very fine, detailed accounts headed: "THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG" "Details and Incidents of the Fight". This carries over to take a full column on pg. 2. Page 2 also has a ice editorial headed: "The Glorious Victory" on the battle. Other pg. 2 items "The Morning's Topics which begins: "Reliable reports...confirm previous intimations that the whole of Lee's army is in full retreat towards the Potomac..." Also: "Latest From Meade's Army" and "The War".
Page 3 has nice column heads: "LEE'S RETREAT" "Meade's Whole Army Moving" 'The Mountains Full of Demoralized Rebels" "500 Rebels Taken at Greencastle" "General Gregg Captures 4000 Rebels" '6,000 Reported Deserters from Lee" "Longstreet Still Reported Killed". Page 4 has content on General Lee as well.
A great issue on the Battle of Gettysburg taking up half of the front page and much inside. Four pages, great condition.
