The prime feature is: "A Letter from the Earl of Shelburne to his Excellency Governor Barnard" of Massachusetts, which is followed by a piece prefaced with: "The General Assembly of Massachusetts Bay having treated the above letter with great freedom, Governor Bernard put an end to the Session with the following speech..." (see). Further on is: "An Address to the People. Friends & Countrymen, well-wishers to the Glorious Cause of Liberty".
Among additional articles are: "The Claims of the French to Newfoundland, Considered" "An Account of the American Armadilla" which includes a nice full page plate of what we now spell "Armadillo"; a review of a book: "The Narrative of the Hon. John Byron, Commodore in the late Expedition Round the World..." and more. Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" which has the latest news reports of the day.
The other plate called for is lacking.
Complete in 48 pages, 5 3/4 by 8 3/4 inches, full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate, untrimmed right margin, very nice condition.
A very nice magazine from the "mother country" from before the Revolutionary War with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
