Official presentation by a squaw of the Six Nations...

Review of Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott...

Item # 642748 ·
RHODE ISLAND AMERICAN, Providence, March 3, 1820  The front page has one of the earliest reviews of Sir Walter Scott's 1820 classic: Ivanhoe. Of note is that as of the end of 1820, neither the Gentleman's Magazine (London) nor the London Gazette had reviewed this work.
Also present starting on page 1 and continuing on to page 2 is the account of a delegation of Indians of the Six Nations making a presentation to the Pennsylvania Legislature in regards to their lands. Of note is the mention that the presentation was made by a female (squaw), with additional details of the event.
Four pages, archivally rejoined at the spine, a dark but inconsequential ink-stain on the 2nd leaf, but otherwise very good.
