October 29, 1783
THE PENNSYLVANIA JOURNAL & THE WEEKLY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, Oct. 29, 1783
* Rare title w/ great masthead
* re. End of the Revolutionary War
* John Hancock speech
I have always thought this newspaper has one of the finest masthead, featuring an uncommonly large engraving with an Indian and an angel on either side of the "Journal", plus a 3-masted ship & other embellishments (see). A decorative issue for display.
Page 2 contains a speech to the Mass. legislature signed in type by the governor: John Hancock. Other news of the date from shortly after the end of the Revolutionary War.
There are two somewhat large old tape stain which do disfigure (see), covered on the inside with archival tape due to the stickiness. Other period editor's marks are in the margins. Never-trimmed margins.
