A very uncommon title published only from December, 1785 thru May, 1787. Of particular interest is the masthead which has ornate lettering spelling: "U S A".
Inside has a report from Charleston, S.C. noting: "Letter from Tugaloo...says, the spies who lately went out returned with the following intelligence, viz. That the Creeks were waiting for the army which they seemed determined to attack with a part of their force..." and more. Nice discussion in the Virginia House of Delegates including: "...Resolved therefore...that the delegates representing this state in Congress ought to be instructed in the most decided terms, to oppose any attempt that may be made in Congress to barter or surrender to any nation whatever, the right of the United States to the free & common use of the river Mississippi..." with more (see).
Another item notes the Virginia delegates to the Constitutional Convention: "The General assembly of Virginia...have th't proper to appoint George Washington, Patrick Henry, Edmund Randolph...James Madison, George Mason...deputies to represent that commonwealth in the convention proposed to be held at Philadelphia in May next, for the purpose of revising the federal constitution."
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, numerous margin tears with some archival mends inside, some light dirtiness and minor fold rubbing.
