THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, November, 1767  There is a nice & large foldout plate which shows the: "Funeral Process of the Duke of York" measuring 8 by 11 1/2 inches (see), and is accompanied by a detailed article. This is the only plate called for in this issue.
Among the various articles within are: "Solution of Optical Phenomena" comes from a man in Philadelphia (see for portions); "New Way of Finding the Longitude" "Carrots Recommended for the Cure of Cancers" "St. Paul's Commission to the Jews at Damascus Defended" "Criminality of King's Keeping Mistresses"
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle", taken up almost entirely with various European news but there is a report of the coroner of Bergen County (see). The full back page is a chart of: "Each Day's Price of Stocks in November, 1767".
Complete in 38 pages, full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 inches, very nice, clean condition.

A very nice pre-Revolutionary War magazine from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content.This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
