PENNSYLVANIA LEDGER, Philadelphia, Aug. 12, 1775

* Battle of Lexington & Concord
* Revolutionary War beginning

Certainly the most notable content is found on page 3, being a report from the London Gazette detailing the historic battle of Lexington & Concord. The report, which includes the list of soldiers killed & wounded, is signed in type by: Thomas Gage, and takes over a full column.
Portions include: "...brought letters from General Gage...containing the following particulars of what passed on the 19th of April last between a detachment of the King's troops...and several parties of rebel provincials..." and what followed are nice details concerning the battle, including: "General Gage, having received intelligence of a large quantity of military stores being collected at Concord for the avowed purpose of supplying a body of troops to act in opposition to his Majesty's government...orders to destroy the said stores...upon their arrival at Lexington found a body of the country people drawn up under arms on a green close to the road...went off in great confusion & several guns were fired upon the King's troops from behind a stone wall...the rebels, the troops returned the fire...upon their arrival at Lexington found a body of the country people drawn up under arms on a green close to the road...went off in great confusion & several guns were fired upon the King's troops from behind a stone wall...the rebels, the troops returned the fire & killed several of them; after which the detachment marched on the Concord...burnt some new gun carriages...whilst this service was performing a great number of the rebels assembled in many parts & a considerable body of them attacked the light infantry posted at one of the bridges on which an action ensued..." with much more (see).
In additional to this terrific content page 3 has other war-related reports as well, including: "...near  Charlestown Neck a warm fire began between our advanced parties & those of the enemy, attended with cannonading from the enemy's works on Bunkers Hill. We took two marines prisoners..." with more (see).
The content continues on the back page as well with a letter from Cambridge noting in part: "...our out-centries at the foot of Bunker's Hill, that the enemy had cut down several large trees & were busy all night in throwing up a line ..." followed by details of a military skirmish (see).
As if all this was not sufficient for  one noteworthy newspaper, included as well is the single sheet, broadside (printed on one side only) "Supplement  to the Pennsylvania Ledger" of the same date. And it contains a terrific document, being the response of the Second Continental Congress to Lord North's Conciliatory Resolution, which was rejected by Congress in a lengthy document, signed in type by its President: John Hancock, Philadelphia, July 31, 1775. The full document is found here, and other particulars and background information can be found at this hyperlink.
Complete in 6 pages with the mentioned "Supplement" issue, numeric notations in margins next to ads (this was the editor's copy), very nice condition.
