January 16, 1928
THE NEW YORK TIMES, January 16, 1928
* Calvin Coolidge visits Cuba
* Last U.S. President prior to Obama
* Pan-American Conference
The front page has a three column headline: "COOLIDGE IS WARMLY WELCOMED TO CUBA; GOES TO PALACE AMID SHOWER OF ROSES; TALKS TO PAN-AMERICAN MEETING TODAY" with subheads. (see) Lengthy coverage continues on page 2. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news of the day. Complete in 44 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. A little spine wear, otherwise very nice.
