King Tutankhamun discovery... Egyptian Pharaoh...

Item # 642227

February 2, 1928

THE NEW YORK TIMES, February 2, 1928

* King Tutankhamun discovery
* Egyptian Pharaoh organs
* Egyptologist Howard Carter

Near the bottom of the front page is a two column heading: "Tut-ankh-Amen's Tomb Yields Last Secret, Canopic Jars Holding Viscera of Pharaoh".(see) Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 48 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Irregular along the spine, nice condition.

wikipedia notes: The final significant discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb was made in the "annex": the canopic jars containing the pharaoh's organs.
