THE NEW YORK TIMES, June 5, 1928

* Woman aviator Amelia Earhart... Airplane "Friendship"
* About to make history... 1st stage of flight

Less than 13 months after Charles Lindbergh's heralded accomplishment, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to achieve the feat. The front page has a four column headline: "SOUTHERN CROSS SPANS OCEAN TO FIJI IN LONGEST SEA FLIGHT EVER MADE; GIRL FLIER REACHES NEWFOUNDLAND" with subheads. (see) Loads of text continues inside with two related photos. Weather would delay her from finishing the journey for about 2 weeks. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 60 pages, light toning at the margins, a little irregular along the spine, generally in good condition..
