THE EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Aug. 4, 1746 

* Jacobites Rebellion
* Leaders deemed guilty


Half of page 2 has a very historic report on the ceremonies of the trial of the 3 ring leaders of the Jacobite Rebellion, noting in part: "...The Earl of Kilmarnock was arraigned by the Crown, and pleaded Guilty. The Earl of Cromarty likewise pleaded Guilty; and submitted themselves to his Majesty's Mercy. Then the Court, upon Lord Balmerino's pleading Not Guilty, proceeded to the examination of the witnesses..." with some more text, then: "...the Court being fully satisfied with the evidence, adjourned to their own House; and in a short time returned, and unanimously voted him Guilty..." with more (see).
