NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, March 16, 1816

* Thomas Jefferson on founding the University of Virginia

A great issue as pages 2, 3 & 4 contain a lengthy report headed: "Jefferson on Education", being a letter from him datelined "Monticello, Sept. 7, 1814" in which he outlines his thoughts of education and the creation of what is now the University of Virginia.
The bkpg. has another, unrelated letter signed: Th. Jefferson concerning an offer to take on a public service job, but he replies in part: "...I feel it a duty to leave to younger bodies & minds services which require activity of either...".
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches.
