Nice issue on Napoleon & his banishment to St. Helena...

Item # 640038

August 20, 1815

THE NEWS, London, England, Aug. 20, 1815

* Napoleon exiled to St. Helena

A great issue on the recently surrendered Napoleon Buonaparte, with pg. 3 having a poem: "Description of the Island of St. Helena" where he would be banished. Also: "The following is Bonaparte's certificate on leaving the School of Brienna: Mr. de Bonaparte (Napoleon) born the 14th of August, 1769, four feet, eleven inches, has completed his four years..." with more. Another item: "A letter from Vienna...says, 'When the intelligence of Napoleon having surrendered himself to the English arrived here, the Empress went to Baden to prepare the Archduchess Maria Louisa for this news...".
Page 4 has a detailed account: "Bonaparte", of his boarding a ship bound for St. Helena. Also: "We learn that on the parting from those of his attendants, which were taken from him, all wept...", plus a letter from Napoleon to his attendants. A note on the personal effects he took with him.
Great to have this content in a British newspaper. Eight pages, red tax stamp on the ftpg., 9 3/4 by 14 3/4 inches, nice condition.
