PENNSYLVANIA PACKET & DAILY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, May 8, 1788

* United States Constitution
* Maryland's ratification

Most of page 2 is taken up with an excellent and very detailed report of the Maryland convention which was called to consider the proposed federal constitution for ratification. Included is not only the report that the state formally ratified: "...and called for the question that 'the convention assent to and ratify the proposed plan of federal government for the United States?' Which was carried in the affirmative by 63 to 11. The vote of ratification having thus passed, Mr. Paca again arose & laid before the convention his propositions for amending the constitution thus adopted...." and what followed is a very detailed and interesting debate on amendments proposed by Maryland (see for portions). They ratified on April 26.
Page 3 has a report from: "Baltimore" of a: "...truly grand Exhibition...in consequence of the ratification of the new constitution by the convention of this state..." with more including 13 after-dinner toasts, a few of which include: "The late convention" "The Seven adopting states of the Federal Constitution" "A Speedy Ratification of the remaining six, without Amendments" "George Washington" and more. This is also followed by: "Extract From the Proceedings of the Convention of Maryland" which again document the process by which Maryland formally ratified the Constitution (see).
Four pages, archivally rejoined at the spine, several discrete archival mends at the margins, water stain at the right margin
