* Martin Luther King Jr. becomes known
* Montgomery, Alabama bus segregation


A landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court outlawed bus segregation throughout the country, doing much to create defiant reactions throughout the South. The new law went into effect Dec. 21. This issue has the first report on the initial bus ride that allowed Negroes to sit anywhere on the bus they wished to.
Page 2 has a one column heading:  "BUS DESEGREGATION MAKES CALM START" with subhead. (see) Martin Luther King vaulted into the national stage for the Civil Rights cause.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 36 pages, a few small binding holes along the spine, otherwise in nice condition.
