The top of page 3 has column heads: "THE MASSACRE OF CUSTER" "Description of a Michigan Soldier Who Saw the Field of Battle" which is prefaced with: "Lt. John Carland...writes...under date of 'Mouth of the Little Horn, June 29th', the following vivid account of Custer's battle with the Sioux..." and the details are descriptive and sickening, including: "...it makes one heart-sick to look over the battle ground & see the poor fellow, some of them with their entrails cut out, others with their eyes dug out & heart laid across their face...They did not disfigure Gen. Custer in any way, but his brother, Tom Custer, was opened and his heart taken out. The following are teh names of the officers and citizens who were killed..." with the list. More also (see).
The next column has heads: "THE INDIANS" "An Indian Account of the Custer Massacre" and "Mutilation of the Bodies of Custer and his Command--the Indians Jubilant" "News from Crook's Camp--All Well". The same page also has: "Sitting Bull and the Sioux" "Person Sketch of the Savage Chief--Peculiarities of Tribe when on the War Path".
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed so it folds out to one large sheet, good condition.
