Page 2 notes: "...that the French army was acting with that of Washington against New York after leaving a small detachment of French & some American militia in Rhode Island; that a body of continental troops were assembling at Cohsass (near the head of Connecticut River...) which the Marquis de la Fayette was to lead into Canada..." with more detail. This is followed by a letter from Charleston which is an interesting soldier's letter which begins: "At length being in quiet possession of this place I hope for a little ease after so many weeks fatigue...".
Another page includes: "...On the other hand our army is so well entrenched at Rhode Island that they have nothing to fear from the English, but on the contrary, it is imagined the French army joined to General Washington's will, when they receive the reinforcement sent by M. de Guiheu of 4000 men, attempt some important stroke against the enemy." (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 1/4 inches, very nice, clean condition.
