THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL, Memphis, Tennessee, May 9, 1915

* RMS Lusitania sinking (1st report)
* Cunard Line ocean liner
* Great headline for display

This is one of the better headlines to be had on the sinking of the ship Lusitania, with the banner headline proclaiming the tragedy: "1,200 WENT DOWN WITH THE LINER LUSITANIA" with various related subheads. The image on the front page is an interesting print of the type of torpedo which sank the Lusitania, with the caption: "The Chief Weapon of the Submarine, Which Has Been Called 'The Daytime Torpedo-Boat,' the Torpedo in Itself a Small, Automatic Submarine". And there is also a photo of millionaire Alfred G. Vanderbilt who died in the tragedy (see ).
This is the complete Sunday issue with 50+ pages, even toning but in nice condition.
