FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED, as well as the WAR SUPPLEMENT TO FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED, New York, both dated April 5, 1862

* Terrific & rare foldout Civil War battle print
* Battle of New Bern NC North Carolina & morE

The "regular" issue has a ftpg. print: "Siege of Island No. 10...", & prints inside: "Prince the Negro Pilot of the Ottawa" "...Gallant & Successful Bayonet Charge...Near New Berne" "Occupation of Winchester, Va..."; a nice centerfold: "The War on the Mississippi River" has two prints; "The War in Florida" is a full page with 2 prints; "...Bombardment & Capture of Fort Thompson..." plus more.
The "Supplement" issue is more rare than the "regular" issue and has its own, decorative masthead (see). The ftpg. shows: "The War in Arkansas--Brig. General Asboth & Staff at the Battle of Pea Ridge". But certainly the prime piece in this issue is the terrific four page foldout spread which shows a very dramatic scene of: "The Battle of Newberne--Final & Successful Charge...Under General Burnside...their Capture & Utter Rout of the Rebel Army". This foldout has various wear at the margins and an archival mend on the reverse the length of one of the folds. A rare opportunity for a four panel battle scene!
As if this was not sufficient there are other war-related prints, including: "Pay Day at the Negro 'Contrabands' Employed in Gathering Cotton..." "...Landing of National Troops Under Gen. Burnside at the Mouth of Slocum's Creek..." and "...View of Newberne from the Interior of Fort Thompson after its Capture...".
Each issue is complete in 16 pages for a total of 32 pages, nice condition save for the comment on the 4 pg. foldout.
