Nice issue on the Little Belt Affair, and the Battle of Tippecanoe...

Item # 638927

December 9, 1811

UNITED STATES' GAZETTE FOR  THE COUNTRY, Philadelphia, Dec. 9, 1811

* Battle of Tippecanoe
* The Little Belt Affair

The front page begins with much reporting concerning the investigation into the Little Belt Affair, being Commodore Rodgers report to the court of inquiry, with the "Judgment of the Court", much in favor of the actions Rodgers in the battle (see). This was one of  the events that would lead to the War of 1812.
Page 3 has two nice accounts of the Battle of Tippecanoe, one from a survivor of the battle, and noting: "...We were formed in a moment, and in less than five minutes our pickets were driven in and the savages were in the centre of our camp. By sunrise we completely defeated them. But our loss has been great..." with much more. Another report concerning Tippecanoe as well.
