Over half of the front page is taken up with: "The Great Question - Annexation of Texas" which is the formal document listing the full text as approved by the Senate & the House of Representatives, including the vote count, and ending with: "...By six o'clock in the evening they arrived at the final question upon the amendments, which were adopted, ayes 132, nays 76. The bill now only requires the signature of President Tyler to be the law of the land. One hundred guns from the Capitol Hill immediately announced the triumph of Annexation." Texas would become the 28th state before the end of the year.
Page 2 has: "African Slave Trade--President's Message" to Congress, signed: John Tyler. And the bkpg. has a brief, notable item: "The Millerites in the state of Maine have now concluded that the 23d day of this month is to be the final day. Some thirty or forty of them have entirely quit work on the faith of the prediction."
Sixteen pages, 8 3/4 by 12 inches, very nice condition.
