Treaty ending the Second Barbary War? Early treaty with the Sioux...

Item # 638165

January 13, 1816

NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Jan. 13, 1816  All of page 1 & a bit of page 2 are taken up with: "The Algerine Treaty" ending the Second Barbary War, signed by the two who did the negotiations: Stephen Decatur & William Shaler. But this would not truly be the end (see hyperlink).
Also inside is: "The British Treaty" dealing with some issues from the War of 1812, as well as: "Indian Treaties" with the Sioux, signed by James Madison & many chiefs with their "X" marks.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches, some foxing, nice condition.

This newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. Wikipedia notes: "Niles...Register (was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics, Niles' Weekly Register is considered an important source for the history of the period."
