NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore,  April 1, 1815

Inside has a letter signed by: And. Jackson to his "Fellow citizens and soldiers" with a New Orleans dateline, regarding the articles of peace signed at Ghent, telling them to be on guard: "...the enemy too often seeks to accomplish what the utmost exertions of his strength will not enable him to effect. To place you off your guard and attack you by surprise..." until such time that it has been verified that the articles of peace had been signed by both governments. Prefacing this is a brief report noting: "It is expected the official news of peace may have reached New Orleans about the 6th of March..." (see). A few other items under the heading "War Events".
Complete in 24 pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, very nice condition.

This newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia it: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
