Most of the front page is taken up with "Letter V", part of a series of very critical letters of the military actions of General Howe in American during the Revolutionary War. Some portions include: "...that this was a simple error: & that a great General did not see, in a deliberation of six weeks, what a New York barber saw in six seconds, I leave them to mourn for his ignorance...These sir, prove, that you know the right thing, though you never did it...And what were your rapid movements for this purpose? You was sixteen days in moving eighteen miles...You kept the troops six days there doing of nothing but only giving the rebels time to do what they pleased..." with much more (see photos).
An inside page has a letter from New York which notes: "Ethan Allen has deserted the confederacy, and with him all the inhabitants of Vermont joined Major Carleton at Ticonderoga. Like other great men, he has published a manifesto containing the reasons of his conduct; & it is confidently said that several of the towns in the neighbourhood of Vermont have joined him."
