July 02, 1867
THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 2, 1867. This has a front page article on "The Dominion Of Canada" "Inauguration of the Confederation--A General Holiday..." with more. "This day has given birth to the political infant, the Dominion of Canada. At 12:5 o'clock last night its advent was hailed by a salute of 101 guns and a bonfire, also by the ringing of bells..." This is essentially the birth of Canada, with the text taking most of a column.
Reporting on the trial of John Surratt is on the front page as well.
Other news and advertisements of the day are within.
Complete in eight pages with a small printing crease through the article, some lite foxing, otherwise in very good condition.
