October 28, 1881

PUBLIC LEDGER, Philadelphia, Oct. 28, 1881

* Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1st report)
* Tombstone AZ Arizona - Old West
* Wyatt Earp - Clantons - McLaurys

Near the top of the front page is a brief report on the very historic gunfight at the OK Corral. The report is very inconspicuous near the top of column four and with no heading. It reads: "Francis and Thomas Lowrey were killed and Wm. Clandon was mortally wounded in Tombstone, Arizona, on Wednesday, in an encounter caused by their refusal to give up their arms to the City Marshall." Names should have been spelled "McLowery" and Clanton".
Brief as it is, relatively few newspapers of that day reported very romanticized event of the Wild West. And this is a front page item.
Four pages, large folio size, good condition.
