THE FRIEND, Honolulu, Hawaii, Nov. 1, 1876

* "The Year Of The Great American Centennial"

It is rare to find Hawaiian newspapers from  the 19th century, and this was the first newspaper & literary magazine published by pioneers not native to Hawaii. This title has a somewhat religious theme, but with other content as well.
Content includes "Prompt Punishment in the South Seas" "Another Arctic Disaster!" "Chinese Problem" and more. The masthead is quite ornate and includes two engravings (see).
Complete in 8 pages, 9 by 12 inches, minor loss at the top margin, archival repair at the blank spine, good condition.
