THE PRESENT STATE OF EUROPE OR THE HISTORICAL & POLITICAL MONTHLY MERCURY, London, England, May, 1695

* Rare 17th century title

This is a very uncommon periodical published during the reign of King William III, formatted something like a pamphlet but definitely a periodical, with the more extended title reading: "... Giving an Account of all the Publick and Private Occurrences, Civil, Ecclesiastical, and Military, that are most considerable in every Court: The Interest of Princes, their Pretensions, and Intrigues, etc." (see).
Much of this issue is concerned with the political & military affairs of Europe & is organized into news by country or region with commentary on the events. Near the back is: "Advice From England" which includes several topics & takes 2 1/2 pages (see). This is followed by: "Reflections Upon the Advice from England" (see).
A nice feature of this periodical is the full title page which includes the date. An advertisement is inside the front leaf.  Measures 6 1/4 by 7 1/2 inches, 36 pages. Printed slightly askew which creates very little bottom margin on several leaves, and which causes minor loss to the bottom text of one leaf; no text loss to the other leaves. Nice condition.
