November 03, 1791

THOMAS'S MASSACHUSETTS SPY OR THE WORCESTER GAZETTE, Nov. 3, 1791

* President George Washington
* State of the Union Address

Over half of page 2 & a small part of pg. 3 are taken up with what was the third annual state-of-the-union address of the President, signed by him in type: G. Washington. This very historic message begins: "I meet you upon the present occasion with the feelings which are naturally inspired by a strong impression of the prosperous situation of our common country...". After its conclusion in the postscript is a note: "The President, then retired, and the members returned to their hall where the speaker laid before them a copy of the speech which was read by the clerk." (see).
A few other interesting items as well. Four pages, a very small hole in the back leaf affects none of the mentioned content. Very nice condition.
