THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, June 10, 1779 Inside has reports from the "House of Commons" which includes talk of events in America, including: "...General Grey...had seen no more of the country than what lies between the head of Elk and Philadelphia & between that city and New York..." and "The conduct of Sir William Howe...had no doubt about it: the force in his opinion had been adequate not to the reduction of America united against us, for such a reduction would be impossible, but the reduction of rebellion...he did not understand the object of the Southern expedition by the Capes of Virginia..." with more including talk of events near Philadelphia & Wilmington (see). Also: "...had required only 11,000 rank & file for the expedition & had full 14,000 at the battle of the Brandywine while Washington had no more than 10,000...If a diversion had been made in the Massachusetts, Gen. Gates never would have been able to have mustered the army with which he had forces General Burgoyne to surrender..." with more (see) Much good reading.
The war reports carry over to the next page with much good material (see).
