THE FRIEND, Honolulu, Hawaii, Sept. 1, 1875

* "The oldest paper in The Pacific"

It is rare to find Hawaiian newspapers from  the 19th century, and this was the first newspaper & literary magazine published by pioneers not native to Hawaii. This title has a somewhat religious theme, but with other content as well.
Content includes "The Sailor's Friend" "Extracts from Livingstone's Journal" "Hawaiian & United States Postage Treaty" & much more. The masthead is quite ornate and includes two engravings (see).
Complete in 8 pages, 9 by 12 inches, great condition.
