FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER, New York, February 14, 1863  The front cover has a halfpage "The Capture of Arkansas Post, Ark. - General S. G. Burbridge, Accompanied by His Staff, Planting the Stars and Stripes on the Rebel Fort Hindman, January 11" with an accompanying article along with a small illustration "Gen. S. G. Burbridge". Inside the issue is a double-page "March of the Army of the Potomac Towards Richard's Ford, Rappahannock River, Under General General Burnside, Interrupted by the Storm of Wednesday, January 21"; 2/3 top of double-page "The War in Arkansas - The investment of Fort Hindman, Arkansas Post, by the Union Troops Under major-Gen. McClernand, and Its Bombardment by the Union Gunboats, Commanded by Rear-Admiral D. D. Porter, Jan. 11"; and three additional illustrations "Shattered Appearance of a 9-inch Dahlgren Gun, in the Principal Cashmate of Fort Hindman, Arkansas Post."; The Sinking of the U. S. Armed Transport Hatteras, Capt. Blake, by a Rebel Cruiser, Supposed to be the Famous Alabama (290), Sunday Night, January 11"; and "U. S. Seamen of the Gunboat Estrella Removing the Rebel Torpedoes in Bayou Teche, During the Naval and Land Action of January 14". A political cartoon on the back page is entitled "Lincoln's Dream; or, There's a Good Time Coming." Additional illustrations, articles and advertisements are within.
Complete in sixteen pages with lite scattered foxing, otherwise in good condition.
