April 10, 1841

THE LOG CABIN, New York, April 10, 1841

* William Henry Harrison death (1st report)
* Rare campaign title by Horace Greeley

The famous campaign newspaper published by Horace Greeley in support of William Henry Harrison in the 1840 election, its success carrying over to many issues beyond the inauguration--including this one. Harrison's term was noted for its brevity, he surviving just one month in office before dying on April 4, one day after the date of this issue.
Of much significance is report of the death of President Wm. H. Harrison with the entire issue having all 4 pages black-bordered plus several articles on pgs. 2 being black-bordered: "Death of President Harrison!" "Death Of The President!" "The Nation's Calamity" "Funeral of the Late President, William Henry Harrison" "The Last Moments of General Harrison" and many more.
Terrific to have these reports in this Harrison newspaper!
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, engraving of a log cabin in the masthead, minor foxing, nice condition.
