THE DAILY DELTA, New Orleans, Louisiana, Sept. 6, 1861  Truly Confederate newspapers from New Orleans are very difficult to find, as Admiral Farragut entered the mouth of the Mississippi in mid-April, 1862 and finally took New Orleans on April 28. Shortly thereafter Benjamin Butler moved in and took control of the city, it surrendering without a fight. So "Confederate" issues from New Orleans are limited to those published between Louisiana's secession from the Union on January 26, 1861 and the end of April, 1862, just a brief 15 month period.
Among the column heads on page 3 are: "Kentucky's Neutrality" "Gov. Magoffin to the Legislature" "Important Military Appointment" "General Albert S. Johnston at Richmond" "Appointed Senior General of the Confederate Army" "The Taking of Fort Hatteras & Camp Clark" "Engagement on the Mississippi" "The War Problem" is an editorial; "Gen. Fremont's Proclamation" and more.
Pages 3 & 4 are mostly or entirely taken up with ads including a bkpg. illus. ad for "Sale of Negroes".
Four pages, two old tape mends, generally in very nice, clean condition.
