The front page has news from New York noting: "...a confirmation of the great rejoicing that were in the different parts of America in consequence of the Peace...as soon as the regular official information was received of the Peace being actually concluded, Sir Guy convened the troops then quartered at New York...that they were to retire to Nova Scotia...Several of the regiments refused quitting the province of New York....were of course disbanded & have become subjects of the United States of America...Sir Guy Carleton received the dispatches from Government containing an account of the Ratification of the Preliminary Articles of Peace..." with more on this, including: "The official accounts of the Ratification of the Preliminary Articles of Peace were received in Phila. on the 10th of April...in consequence of which the Congress published a Proclamation declaring the Cessation of Arms as well by Sea as by Land & enjoining the observance thereof."
The back pg. has a related report: "...American papers announce the arrival of the Articles of Peace but preserve a dead silence upon the reception...appears however...that they were acceptable to some, but that the unhappy Loyalists had been thrown into a state of despair...that numbers are preparing to leave the country."
Four pages, very nice condition. Great to have the noted content on the front page.
