DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, June 25, 1863 

* Battle of Gettysburg close - North invasion
* From the capital of the Confederacy


Not only a nice Confederate newspaper with much war reporting, but from the capital of the Confederacy as well.
Among the ftpg. items are: "Is Richmond Threatened From the Peninsula?" which takes over a full column; "From The Army of Northern Virginia" "City Intelligence" "A Flag for the Ram Huntsville" "The Captured Blockade Runners" "The Maryland Battalion" "Our Victory at Vicksburg" which includes: "...reports that the enemy made a desperate assault on our centre that day. The engagement lasted four hours...He knows they were repulsed with heavy loss..."; and "From Suffolk" and a bit more.
The back page has an interesting editorial on the events of the day, portions including: "...Next we learn that General Grant has again butted his bull head against the stockaded bluffs of Vicksburg, with the customary result...No light is thrown on the movements or intentions of General Lee..." with much more. Also on the bkpg: "Latest News From the North--The Latest from Lee and Hooker's Armies--Operations in Maryland and Pennsylvania--Sharp Cavalry Fight near Snicker's Gap--Hooker's Army on the March--Intense Suffering & Straggling--The Latest from Vicksburg--Resistance to the "Draft in the North" "President Lincoln on Arbitrary Arrests" and even more.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with full banner masthead, nice condition.
