HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, December 19, 1896
* Maxfield Parrish
* Christmas
Certainly the feature of this issue is the great Maxfield Parrish front cover, titled "Christmas" & which features an image of Santa Claus between two servants. This cover is in two colors. Typically this desirable cover is lacking as they have been extracted from volumes over the years. Rare to find an issue with this cover intact, and in nice condition as well.
Although the contents of the issue pale in comparison, the full pg. illus. of: "Bringing in the Boar's Head." Inside is a full pg. illus. of: "Captain Malyoe Shot Captain Brand Through the Head." Full pg. illus. of "She Would Site Quite Still, Permitting Barnaby to Gaze." Doublepage centerfold is: "A Tall, Slender, Graceful Form in Riding-Dress was outlined Against the Yellowing Sky." 2/3 pg. illus. of "Too Much Christmas."
The Parrish cover is uncommonly nice condition. The back color cover is present as well and is very nice, as are the interior pages.
