How wrong they were!

Item # 633129

January 27, 1774

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, January 27, 1774

* Prelude to the Revolutionary War
* Original reporting from the enemy

The back page has a brief yet very interesting item concerning the future events of British-American relations, noting: "...great sums were likewise expended to protect the Bostonians, etc. who by their conduct did not deserve protection; that instead of keeping troops there at a vast expence, we might only send them over able officers & teach them to fight; that they were numerous enough to defend themselves against an enemy, but not strong enough to rebel against us." Interesting to read this comment in light if what would transpire within the next several years.
Complete in eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, partial red ink tax stamp on pg. 2, some dirtiness to the top half of the ftpg., nice condition.
