Launch of the frigate Constitution...

THOMAS'S MASSACHUSETTS SPY OR WORCESTER GAZETTE, Oct. 25, 1797 A page 3 report under "The Real Launch" describes the successful launch of the Constitution. The report, dated "Oct. 23", begins: "On Saturday last, the Citizens again assembled at the navy yard, to view the Launch of the Frigate Constitution. Amid a crowd of spectators, she moved with a most graceful dignity into the embraces of the surrounding waters..." and more, plus mention of the two previous attempts that failed (see).
There is also a report under " A Natural Curiosity" that describes a large snake seen in Young's Lake near Cooperstown, New York. Says the snake had a spear or horn in its forehead and made a very unusual noise.
Four pages, light damp staining, very nice condition.
