The front page has an Address from the city officials & citizens of Philadelphia to the President expressing their concerns about the unprovoked aggressions of France and noting that: "...nothing has been wanting on your part, to preserve us the blessings of peace and safety...", with his related comments in a gracious reply that concludes on pg. 2, signed in type: John Adams. Another similar response to the inhabitants of York, Pa., signed in type: John Adams.
Page 3 has a nice advertisement headed: "Constitution Frigate" in which they seek applicants to serve on this historic ship, specifically looking for "...eight midshipmen, one boatswain, one gunner, one ship carpenter, one sail maker and two master's mates..." with some details (see). The ad is signed by Samuel Nicholson, the Constitution's first commander.
Four pages, various foxing & minor wear, generally good.
