November 30, 1941

NEW YORK TIMES, Nov. 30, 1941

* Pre Pearl Harbor attack on America
* Tensions with Japan increasing

Several interesting items in this issue just one week before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The front page has: "...Tojo Would 'Purge' Orient Of U.S..." with a subhead: "Japanese Asserts East Must End Exploitation 'With Vengeance' ""War Threatened if U.S. Uses Air Convoys--Premier to Rally People Today". Page 11 has: "War Declaration Urged" "Cornell Professors Favor It in First Returns of Poll". Pg. 16 has: "Crisis In East Laid to 'Misled' Japan" and "Scholar From Orient Sees Japan 'Bluffing' " "Pierre Laurin Says She Would Lose War With U.S. and Britain" and pg. 24 has: "Tokyo Oil Need Outlined" "Italian Organ Says Japanese Must Get Supplies of Indies".
Also of interesting is a ftpg. report: "Kepke Convicted With Two Aides; All Face Death" "Former Gang Chief, Weiss and Capone Found Guilty After Jury Ponders 4 1/2 Hours". This is a same-day report.
Much more interesting reading--with historical hindsight--in this issue.
Complete 1st section only with all 72 pages, rag edition in nice condition.
