Item # 632568
November 14, 1932
THE NEW YORK TIMES, November 14, 1932
* Dugald Clerk death (1st report)
* Two-stroke engine inventor
* Abraham E. Lefcourt death (1st report)
* Manhattan real estate developer
Page 17 has a one column heading: "SIR DUGALD CLERK, INVENTOR, DEAD"" with subheads. (see)
Also on the same page is: "A. E. LEFCOURT DIES SUDDENLY AT 55" with subheads and photo. (see) I suspect this is one of the few publications to report these deaths as other titles in our inventory do not.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 38 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
